AC Milan are a club in decline. The seven-time European Cup winners have slipped down the footballing ladder in recent years but they’re not doomed just yet. In fact, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that the Rossoneri could rise from the depths of despair to challenge for the Serie A title next season. And from there, anything is possible…
Ultimately, Milan have struggled to compete against the likes of Juventus, Roma and Napoli for various reasons. Firstly, Milan’s glory days are over. Unfortunately, that was always going to happen. In the 2000s, Milan were THE team to beat in Italy. The likes of Cafu, Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini and Kaka joined together to form arguably the greatest defensive unit of all time – and Milan flourished, winning a number of domestic competitions as well as two European Cup titles.

The current squad could take plenty of inspiration from Milan’s glorious past, as they look to move away from their current predicament. On paper, Cristian Brocchi has plenty of talent at his disposal and Milan are only two or three astute signings away from challenging for the European places – which is where they should be. After all, the Rossoneri are too big to miss out on European football. Their fans deserve to be competing for titles on multiple fronts, including the Champions League.
But if things are going to change for the better, it could take a while. The process of rebuilding this prestigious club cannot be rushed and Brocchi – a young, hungry manager – could be the perfect candidate to take Milan back to the top. In attack, they have enough quality to cause problems for Serie A’s elite sides and the Rossoneri will try to build around their talented crop of young, creative stars. However, they shouldn’t sway from their experienced heads too much. After all, their knowledge and intelligence could prove useful, especially if Milan are able to put themselves in a position to compete for silverware next season.
As of May 31st, odds aren’t available on next season’s Serie A title race but an ever-improving AC Milan could feature among the leading contenders in Bet365’s betting odds. Juventus have won Italy’s top flight in each of the last five years but it may finally be time for AC Milan to rekindle the old flame and secure what would be a romantic title triumph, particularly for those who have no emotional ties to the Italian league.
Brocchi has plenty of work to do but he’s capable of guiding the Rossoneri back to the summit of Italian football. Right now, most people don’t expect too much of Milan but this could be where they are at their lethal best. Low expectations could play into Milan’s hands and with a couple of signings, there’s no reason why they cannot compete for a European spot next season and from there, the world is their oyster…
