Milan 1 – 0 Barcelona

Barca were punished for failing to make their chances into goals against AC Milan in Santa Clara, where Andre Silva scored in the 92nd minute. His sudden goal with almost the last touch of the game secured a victory for Milan over a poor and unfamiliar Barcelona side in the International Champions Cup. The Rossoneri will be playing their next game against Genoa, starting the Serie A campaign.

Blaugrana were missing Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitić, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique, Ousmane Dembele, Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti and Philippe Coutino, as the majority of the club’s stars were gifted an additional period of rest following their appearances in the World Cup, while newest signing Arturo Vidal is yet to play with the squad. In their absence, coach Ernesto Valverde started Brazilian newcomers Arthur and Malcom against the Rossoneri, as Barca dominated the game without reward in the first half. The contest at Santa Clara appeared destined for a good old penalty shootout, but Andre Silva had other ideas, the Portuguese forward beating Marc-Andre ter Stegen at the goalkeeper’s near post to win it in the 92nd minute after being found in empty space by Franck Kessie. The late goal came against the flow of play in California, but the result will no doubt encourage Gennaro Gattuso’s team ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

The La Liga champions had threatened inside the first minute, with Paco Alcacer forcing Gianluigi Donnarumma to concede a corner by making a decent save. Alessio Romagnoli had to be on point 10 minutes later, the defender breaking up a promising exchange of passes between brazilians Arthur and Malcom. Milan’s first clear chance fell to Fabio Borini, who saw his shot from the penalty area blocked by Marlon.

It was Barca who continued to create opportunities, Malcom narrowly failing to get on the end of a forward pass from Rafinha in the 19th minute. And on the half-hour mark, Ricardo Rodriguez had to make a precise sliding tackle to prevent Nelson Semedo from getting a shot away from a tight angle of the box. With nine minutes remaining in the half, Arthur unleashed a fast drive from outside the area, a diving Donnarumma proving his quality by keeping it out. The offense continued as the half-time whistle approached, Malcom hitting the post and Munir El Haddadi making an effort from range, with Donnarumma beaten on both occasions.

Both coaches made many substitutions during the second half. Ter Stegen, on for Jasper Cillessen on Barcelona’s goal, had to be alert to deny Hakan Calhanoglu in the 47th minute. That chance appeared on the break after Barca appealed for a penalty for an apparent stamp by Rodriguez on Rafinha, which was ignored by the referee. Andre Silva, wasted one of the few good chances in a tough second half when he fired into the side-netting in the 67th minute. Ricard Puig could have won it in the 90th minute, the Barcelona substitute firing a shot wide after being found unmarked. Instead it was Milan who took the win, Calhanoglu and Kessie showing considerable composure to sculp out the opening for Andre Silva, and the former Porto attacker scoring an easy close range winner.

AC Milan 0 – 0 Lazio

AC Milan failed to make the most of their home advantage in the first leg of Coppa Italia semi-final with Lazio, drawing 0-0 in a disappointing match on Wednesday. Gennaro Gattuso’s men were poorly performing, offering almost nothing from an attacking perspective and were only spared defeat by the fact that Lazio failed to capitalise on their chances. The match’s first opportunity eventually arrived just after the half-hour mark, but Lucas Leiva could only head Lukaku’s cross over from close range under pressure from Fabio Borini.

Ciro Immobile then tried his luck from distance and stung the palms of Gianluigi Donnarumma, with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic following suit just before referee Marco Guida brought the disappointing first half to a close. Milan looked a little more purposeful at the start of the second half and went close in the 53rd minute, as Manuel Locatelli saw his volley crucially blocked by Lucas.

But that failed to herald a period of Milan pressure, with the visitors next to go close just after the hour – Immobile forcing Donnarumma into an excellent save down to his right. The pressure on the Milan defence suddenly became relentless, as Milinkovic-Savic and lively substitute Luis Alberto saw efforts that were seemingly goal-bound blocked in quick succession.

Yet Milan appeared to wake up towards the end and Lazio had a lucky escape 15 minutes from time, as Patrick Cutrone saw his header palmed straight to Calhanoglu, who inexplicably fired over the open goal from about 10 yards.

That proved to be Milan’s final chance, as Lazio subsequently tightened up and clinched the draw – the minimum their efforts deserved.

AC Milan 0 – 2 AS Roma

Roma were made to wait to break the deadlock away to Milan at San Siro, where Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi scored for a 2 – 0 victory.

Second-half goals from Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi were enough to secure a 2-0 win for Roma at AC Milan as Eusebio Di Francesco increased the pressure on his friend and San Siro counterpart Vincenzo Montella. Clear chances were at a premium for much of a match that was billed as a direct contest between the two coaches, who remain close after winning the Scudetto together at the Giallorossi in 2000-01.

The Milan boss had joked before the game about Carlo Ancelotti, sacked by Bayern Munich last week, joining him as an assistant but the availability of a Rossoneri great could give the incumbent real cause for concern should recent struggles continue for his team, who finished the match with 10 men when Hakan Calhanoglu received a second yellow card in the 80th minute.

Milan underwent an expensive makeover in the off-season but have now lost their last two league matches and trail the early Scudetto contenders in seventh spot.

Roma meanwhile are fifth thanks to their fourth league victory in succession.

Stern tests await both teams after the international break, with the Rossoneri due to face in-form neighbours Inter in the Milan derby and Roma set to host table-topping Napoli at Stadio Olimpico.

A spirited start to the game quickly descended into scrappiness and it took until the 17th minute for either team to register a shot on goal, Kevin Strootman’s speculative attempt from long range sailing wide after a poor Gianluigi Donnarumma clearance left the Milan goal unprotected.

Roma called the keeper into action three minutes later, Donnarumma saving easily from Florenzi, who failed to catch a strike cleanly after a good run and pass from the outside of Aleksandar Kolarov’s boot.

Milan were restricted to long-distance half-chances for Franck Kessie and Calhanoglu, while Roma were forced to withdraw Strootman after just 30 minutes, Lorenzo Pellegrini replacing the Netherlands midfielder.

The substitute tested Donnarumma when he burst into the area with four minutes to go in the half, but the killer blow was lacking once again as the break arrived with the deadlock intact.

Milan improved after the break and twice went close to opening the scoring just after the hour mark.

Andre Silva narrowly failed to connect with a cross to the back post and Leonardo Bonucci’s fierce strike drew a good save from Alisson either side of Donnarumma denying Florenzi one-on-one.

Nikola Kalinic was the next to threaten, holding off Kostas Manolas before turning and shooting straight at the Roma keeper from close range.

But it was Roma who finally pounced, Dzeko receiving a pass from Pellegrini and benefiting from a deflection to beat Donnarumma with a powerful effort from outside the area in the 72nd minute.

And Florenzi settled it five minutes later, following up a Radja Nainggolan strike to slot home the rebound from close range, his first league goal in 18 months.

Milan’s situation worsened when Calhanoglu’s foul on Nainggolan earned him a second booking, leaving the hosts unable to mount an attempted comeback in the closing exchanges.

Sampdoria 0-2 Milan

M’Baye Niang and Carlos Bacca fired AC Milan into the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia at the expense of Sampdoria in Thursday’s 2-0 win at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Niang scored in the second half with a nice finish after being set up by Bacca, before the Colombian international added a second well in the stoppage time.

Vincenzo Montella’s Sampdoria were the more dangerous side of the two before the break, but failed to really trouble Abbiati.

The first big chance of the game fell to Niang after the interval and the former Caen starlet showed his class with a fine finish. If you’re looking for promo codes, you can use Ladbrokes Promo Code.

Sampdoria were unable to really threaten in the remainder of the game, with Ervin Zukanovic’s dismissal for dissent not helping their cause, and Bacca eventually put the match to bed in the 94th minute after being set up by Keisuke Honda. Milan will now face Carpi in the final eight.

Sampdoria got a good chance to open the scoring after just four minutes when the referee awarded them a free-kick in a dangerous position, but Zukanovic only hit the wall from 20 yards out.

The away side looked dangerous twice within the space of just two minutes midway through the first half.

Giacomo Bonaventura was denied by Emiliano Viviano after a good individual action down the left, while Niang saw his opportunistic volley from inside the area sail wide at the far post.

The hosts caused Milan all kinds of trouble on the counter-attack in the closing stages of the first half, but Luis Muriel’s left-footed shot from the edge of the area lacked the power to trouble Abbiati.

Carlos Carbonero was next to try his luck after cutting inside onto his right foot, but the Colombian’s attempt went harmlessly wide.

Milan started the second half in fine fashion and broke the deadlock in the 50th minute via Niang.

Bacca opened up the Sampdoria defence with a mazy dribble through the middle before setting up the Frenchman with a clever through ball and Niang scored for 1-0.

Sampdoria were dealt another major blow around the hour-mark when Zukanović received his marching orders.

The full-back reacted furiously after going into the referee’s book for a light foul and Domenico Celi responded by showing him a second yellow card for his verbal outburst right away.

Bonaventura could have put the match to bed in the 70th minute after a sublime cross from the right from Niang, but the attacking midfielder mistimed his header and the chance went begging.

Substitute Antonio Cassano tested Abbiati with a low show shot at the near post just minutes after coming off the bench, but the Milan goalkeeper comfortably gathered.

Carlos Bacca ended Sampdoria’s dream of getting back into it with a sublime finish in the dying seconds of the game after an assist from Honda.

Catania 1-1 AC Milan

At 65 ‘Milan have claimed a goal when Robinho, Carrizo passed out, kicked weakly and Marquis off the line … or maybe inside?

Catania is not passed. This year the team is doing really rossazzurra ‘large’ and also AC Milan, more often than the pirate ‘Maximin’, has had to deal with a team that never stands still even after you have found to make the match with Spolli. The goals that led the Rossoneri the lead was Robinho. Then, after 1-1, many occasions by both parties, but no goal and the score of equality seems, on balance, the most just.

TRAINING – There Robinho in attack alongside Ibrahimovic at Milan, with El Shaarawy confined to the bench with Boateng and former Maxi Lopez. Absent Nesta and Thiago Silva, there are Bonera and Nesta in central defense with the Abbot recovered on the right. In Catania, Montella finds Marco Motta and confirms the team-type.

MATCH – Part immediately well with Catania Bergessio that, after 2 minutes of play, is face to face with Abbiati, but takes the side netting. The Milan, shortly after, it is immediately dangerous to the free throw Ibrahimovic Emanuelson, who came face to face with Carrizo, kick him to the Argentine goalkeeper. The rossazzurri play without awe, but Milan is the game and the 17 ‘Ibrahimovic is to present face to face with the goalkeeper but could not beat Catania. The guys from Montella, however, are alive: Motta’s in the middle of a beautiful cross from the right on which is better than Bergessio Mexes, but his header did not frame the door.

Guests, slowly, to take possession of the field, acting as a buoy Ibrahimovic trying to make postings by Emanuelson, Robinho and Nocerino and it is precisely in this way that Milan is the advantage: free Robinho Ibrahimovic who presented himself face to face with Carrizo, is cold in beating imparabilmente the former goalkeeper of Lazio. The goal is not suffered the demoralizing Catania, just 3 minutes later, it should be close to balance it with a beautiful header from the center of Alejandro Gomez that the crossbar. And ‘this is the last action of note at first played on a fast pace, though not rich in opportunities.

The second half started quickly with a bang: Gomez found the equalizer with a tap-in header, but Bergonzi undo the network of Catania recognizing an offside Bergessio, author of the assist. The impetus of Catania and is not subsiding Bergessio to try on a free kick with no luck. Allegri tries to reshape his Milan sending Boateng in the field instead of Emanuelson, but it is still the home team and try to insist with a left of Lodi that the door frames.

The draw, however, is in the air and reaches 57 ‘: developments of a corner kick from the left, stopping the ball in the penalty Rossoneri until Spolli is quickest of all to beat Abbiati from close range. The guys from Montella also not satisfied and continue to press the accelerator driven by a devastating Almiron tries twice from outside the box, before you become involved in a sweeping coast-to-coast, 60 meters long, finished with a right imprecise. Amid attempts by Argentine midfielder, AC Milan is close to the goal by Robinho, who, after ruling also dribbling in Carrizo, is opposed by the Marquis on the goal line.

Montella sends in Llama in place of Barrientos, Allegri responds with El Shaarawy in place of Robinho. AC Milan wants to win and try to earn back yards to go in search of a goal, touched the 77 ‘by Mexes, whose header Carrizo is nothing short of miraculous. Allegri also plays the card Maxi Lopez, but in the final minutes Ibra is the only one to try for the Rossoneri, finding the opposition of Carrizo. Moments before the final whistle, the Catania good to win the ball but failed to capitalize and the end result of 1-1 was the most correct.

KEY – The Catania has suffered a blow after goals from Robinho and was not satisfied with the draw after the signature of Spolli: this was the secret of eleven Montella, today.

CHICCA – Nicola Legrottaglie, the half-hour for the first time, advances in fine style and then climbs over Robinho Ibrahimovic with a sombrero chic before changing the game with a throw to Veron. The defender of Catania is now truly regenerated.

Tactics – The 4-3-3 and 4-3-1-2 Montella Allegri are now the trademarks of the teams: in Milan Ibrahimovic retreats often to collect the ball, forcing him to turn to follow him and Spolli or Legrottaglie thus creating a hole for insertion of midfielders.

SLOW MOTION – The decision of the goals canceled Gomez looks good because of an offside Bergessio, author of the deviation. The Milan protest to save the Marquis line, but it seems that the ball has passed fully the goal line.

PROMOTED & rejected – The best field is definitely Nicola Legrottaglie ache extraordinary performance of Carrizo, Spolli and the second time Almiron. Among rossazzurri ‘stick’ only Barrientos. In Milan, Ibrahimovic is the usual fury, and while Emanuelson El Shaarawy will see shortly.
